Megan gave me a bag of Orville Redenbacher's mini bag and it totally changed my mood. I'm much happier and bouncy. In retrospect, popcorn has always made me feel better. I will go to the movies JUST for the popcorn. Does that make me a fat ass? I hope not. But it sure makes me happy!
What's cooler is that I'm not alone. LOL. There's an actual Web site called Popcorn Fan Club with other people like me. There's even the Popcorn Institute and a museum called the Wyandot Popcorn Museum.
Fun Facts:
- According to the Popcorn Institute, Americans today consume 17 billion quarts of popped popcorn each year. The average American eats about 54 quarts.
- Popcorn was integral to early 16th century Aztec Indian ceremonies -- they used popcorn as decoration for ceremonial headdresses, necklaces and ornaments on statues of their gods, including Tlaloc, the god of rain and fertility.
- One of the ancient ways to pop corn was to heat sand in a fire and stir kernels of popcorn in when the sand was fully heated.
