Welcome home, Jaime!

Last week was an exciting one. My husband, Jaime, finally came home after a LONG deployment.
I flew to San Diego to meet him. It was nice to get away from the cold, but it was a rough time getting there. My flights were delayed until the next day, and to make things worse, I forgot my license at home. I had to get felt up by the TSA folks and had my bags tosses around. It wasn't bad... just annoying. But thanks to a few friends in SoCal, I was picked up at the airport promptly and taken to the sub base to wait for the sub to pull in, ready to show off my banner.

I had forgotten how anxious I can get seeing the sail of the sub in the distance and later the tug boats hauling it in. They take FOREVER to tie it to the dock and finally place the brow.
Last West Pac, Jaime was one of the last ones to get off of the boat, so I stood there with my sign, patiently waiting for all of the sailors to get off. Since I wasn't really paying attention to the first guys, Jaime managed to sneak up on me. LOL.
That night, we had a nice dinner at Adam's Avenue Grill, a fave spot of mine in San Diego, and then called it a night. The next day we went shopping, ate lunch and a movie, and headed back to cold Chicago.
Jaime was here the weekend and will be returning today. I don't feel too bad since I'll be seeing him throughout the month, including this weekend, and he'll be coming back home at the end of the year. Yay!

Counting down the days until terminal leave begins....
